SCARAMOUCHE tells the story of the great Italian commedia dell'Arte
clown, Tiberio Fiorillo, known as Scaramouche. On the run from the law,
and with no stage experience, Scaramouche is adopted by a troupe of
eight clowns and is suddenly thrown into the spotlight, fast becoming
Europe's best-loved clown, in spite of his total lack of talent. Many will
recognise Italian comedy's favourite characters, such as the mischievous
Arlecchino, miserly Pantalone and wacky Pulcinella.

The first of its kind,
SCARAMOUCHE blends the Broadway musical with
the timeless traditions of the commedia dell'arte. Nine highly skilled
musical theatre performers, all with commedia training, will be showcasing
their talent under the direction of Paola Cavallin to the memorable score
and lyrics of Stephen Lanigan-O'Keeffe. This musical will generate new
enthusiasm for commedia dell'arte and build bridges across the cultures.
